City of Lauderhill Home Purchase Assistance (SHIP and HOME Programs)

Nelson Paredes · REALTOR® · One Stop Realty Center Inc

Updated October 20, 2026

Up to $75,000

The city says the program is open — checked October 12, 2026. It is first come, first served, and we have not confirmed how much money is left. Official source.

  • The most the lowest income level can get, not what you will necessarily receive. The amount drops with your income level, and before you count on it, see what the city still has to confirm.

The figures and requirements come from the official program page, checked on October 12, 2026. The status above comes from the last time we read the city’s page, with its date.

Tap one to read it.

    • How much: up to $75,000 if your income is very low, $65,000 if it is low and $40,000 if it is moderate (the last one only with state funds). These are maximums, not what you will necessarily receive.
    • How it works: It is a second loan on the home, on top of your bank loan: it has no interest and you pay it at the end. If the money is federal, you do not have to pay it back when the term ends; if it is from the state, the debt goes down 10% each year for 10 years.
    • Who: first-time buyers (no home owned in the last 3 years and no other property) whose household income is within the cap in the table below and who buy inside the City of Lauderhill. The maximum home price changes with the source of the money: $451,000 or $679,324.
    • How to apply: directly with the city, on its official page. It is first come, first served.
  • The program is run by City of Lauderhill, Housing Grants. It provides up to $75,000 if your income is very low, $65,000 if it is low and $40,000 if it is moderate (the last one only with state funds). The amount changes with your household’s income level: it is not one figure for everyone.

It is a second loan on the home, on top of your bank loan: it has no interest and you pay it at the end. If the money is federal, you do not have to pay it back when the term ends; if it is from the state, the debt goes down 10% each year for 10 years.

The city uses two kinds of money, from the federal government (the HOME program) and from the state (the SHIP program), and which one is yours sets the maximum home price and how the loan is repaid. Before you sign, read the whole loan contract and ask the city which money you would get.

  • It is a program for households that buy inside the City of Lauderhill. You have to be a first-time buyer, which here means not having owned a home in the last 3 years, and you cannot own any other property: the city’s housing plan (2025-2028) asks for it. The program page does not repeat it, so confirm it with the city when you start your application.

The income cap depends on how many people live in your household:

People in your householdThe most your household can earn per year
    1$106,440
    2$121,680
    3$136,800
    4$152,160
    5$164,280
    6 or more$176,520

The maximum home price is $451,000 with federal money and $679,324 with state money. The official sources do not fully agree: count on the lower one until the city tells you which applies to your case.

This is what is still to be confirmed, or what the program asks for and we do not ask in the assistance finder:

    • The maximum home price is $451,000 with federal government funds, and goes up to $679,324 with state funds. Count on the lower one until the city tells you otherwise.
    • The city housing plan asks that you be a first-time buyer and not own any other property.
    • How much you can have saved after closing: the program page says $4,000 and the requirements page says $45,000. Count on $4,000 until the city confirms.
    • You have to take an 8-hour homebuyer course approved by the federal government.
    • You have to make a down payment of at least 3% of the price: 1% from your own pocket, and up to another 1% can be a gift.
    • If the home is new, it has to have the permit that says people can live in it (a certificate of occupancy), 12 months old or less.
    • The city does not accept your loan being behind another loan on the home; the lender has to follow the city’s rules, and the city does not publish a list of lenders.

    2. 2Confirm what is still to be confirmedRead the official page and ask the city about whatever is still open in the list above. Until it answers, run your numbers with the lowest amount and price.
    3. 3Apply with the cityThe application is made with City of Lauderhill, Housing Grants, through its official page. First come, first served is the city’s rule: first to meet the requirements, first to close the purchase, first to receive the money.
    4. 4Gather what the city asks forHave on hand your household’s income documents and any others it asks you for. Its list overrides any summary, including this one.
  • In the assistance finder you can compare this program with others in Broward and Miami-Dade, using your own numbers. The Assistance Tracker shows each program’s status with the date we checked it. This guide explains the terms, but it does not replace the city’s review of your case.

  • How much can Lauderhill give me? The assistance is up to $75,000 if your income is very low, $65,000 if it is low and $40,000 if it is moderate (the last one only with state funds). These are maximums by income level, not promises: the city decides case by case.

What is the maximum home price? There are two, depending on where the money comes from: $451,000 with federal funds and $679,324 with state funds. Count on the lower one until the city confirms the one for your case.

Do I have to be a first-time buyer? Yes. The city’s housing plan (2025-2028) asks that you be a first-time buyer (no home owned in the last 3 years) and not own any other property. The program page does not say so, so confirm it with the city.

Do I have to pay the money back? It is a loan, and how it is repaid depends on whether the money is federal or state. It is explained in “How much it provides and how it is repaid”. What happens if you sell the home early is set by the contract you sign with the city.

Is money available today? The city says the program is open and first come, first served, but we do not know how much money is left. See the card above: it says what we checked on the city’s page and on what date.
