Up to $50,000
The county has money for Hollywood — checked October 20, 2026. Its list does not mark Hollywood as “no funds” and money is given out first come, first served. It does not say how much is left. Official source.
The most the loan can be for Hollywood, not what you will necessarily receive.
The figures and requirements come from the county’s list and guide, checked on October 12, 2026. The status above comes from the last time we read the list, with its date.
- How much: up to $50,000 as a loan.
- How it works: It is a loan with no interest and you pay nothing each month. If you live in the home for 15 years, you do not have to pay it back. If you sell it earlier, hand it over to someone else, or use it for anything other than living in it, you pay it back.
- Who: first-time buyers purchasing their primary residence in the City of Hollywood, with household income within the cap in the table below.
- How to apply: there is no online application. The lender who makes your home loan processes it.
This is not a City of Hollywood program: it is Broward County’s purchase assistance (Homebuyer Purchase Assistance, or HPA), run by Broward County Housing and Urban Planning Division (the lender processes it; there is no online application). For a home in Hollywood it provides up to $50,000 as a loan.
It is a loan with no interest and you pay nothing each month. If you live in the home for 15 years, you do not have to pay it back. If you sell it earlier, hand it over to someone else, or use it for anything other than living in it, you pay it back.
What the HPA is countywide, and what it gives in the other cities, is in the Broward HPA guide. Here, only what changes in Hollywood.
It is for first-time buyers who buy their primary residence in Hollywood. In Hollywood the income cap is higher than in most cities in the county. It depends on how many people live in your household:
People in your household The most your household can earn per year 1 $106,440 2 $121,680 3 $136,800 4 $152,160 5 $164,280 6 or more $176,520 The home can cost up to $636,806. That is the lower of two numbers the county itself publishes; the frequently asked questions explain the other one and why you count on the lower.
This is what the program asks for, or what is still to be confirmed, and we do not ask in the assistance finder:
- Your credit: set by the lender.
- You cannot have owned a home in the last 3 years (there are exceptions for domestic violence or divorce).
- You have to take a homebuyer course from an agency approved by the federal government; the certificate has to be 12 months old or less.
- You have to be a permanent resident (or have approved asylum) and have 3 years of work, residence and credit in the country. Conditional residence, pending asylum and temporary protected status (TPS) do not count.
- You have to make a down payment of at least 3% of the price with money that is not borrowed, and 1% has to be yours.
- Your savings have to be under $100,000, and after closing you cannot keep more than $50,000.
- Your loan has to be a 30-year loan with the same interest rate the whole time, and follow the county’s rules. The lender processes it: there is no online application.
- What you pay each month for the home has to be between 25% and 38% of what you earn, and what you pay on all your debts together cannot be more than 45% (46% with the 3.5%-down loan).
- The maximum home price: the county’s web page and flyer say $679,324, the cap the state published in 2025; the county’s guide for lenders (from March 2026) still says $636,806, the 2024 cap. Count on the lower one; your lender confirms which applies.
- The county list does not say how much money is left in Hollywood for households that earn up to 120% of what a typical family in the county earns; ask your lender.
- 1Check that this is the right program for youCompare this program with the others in Miami-Dade and Broward, using your own data, before you start gathering papers.See which programs could fit
- 2Choose a lender that works with this assistanceThe lender is the one who requests it from the county for you, together with your main loan. Ask whether it has processed the HPA before.
- 3Ask your lender what the list does not sayHow much money is left for Hollywood, which of the two maximum prices applies to you and what credit you need. Until it answers, run your numbers with the lower price.
- 4Gather what your lender asks forHave on hand the documents it asks you for. Since the money is given out first come, first served, a complete and early file helps you keep your place.
It can go in third place, behind a Florida Housing loan or one from an area the city wants to improve. The county guide says it does not stack with a city assistance when the city has its own program. The county recommends adding its tax discount.
The county assistance is just one layer of your purchase. Alongside it, and depending on what your lender accepts, the options include Florida Housing assistance (with Broward limits) and Chenoa Fund. The county’s tax discount may also apply, but it is not money for closing. Only one state assistance fits. The discount cannot be combined with some state loans (the ones paid for with bonds), and it is not confirmed that Chenoa Fund can be added to the county’s assistance. For the discount, its combination rules are in its guide.

For Hometown Heroes, the price cap depends on the type of loan: its guide explains it.
Some layers require a specific lender: Chenoa Fund asks for one approved by them and the tax discount, one on the county’s list. Ask your lender which ones it works with before you build your numbers.
How much can I put together in total? There is no single figure anyone can promise. It depends on which state assistance applies to you (only one fits), on the county having money for Hollywood, and on your lender accepting the combination. The tax discount does not add money: it lowers your taxes year after year.
- The county’s housing fund is a different program. On the county’s pages it appears as “Broward County housing fund second loan (Affordable Housing Trust Fund)”, with up to $100,000 as a loan. But a program appearing on a page does not mean it has money today: check its status on the Down Payment Assistance Tracker before you count on it.
- The City of Hollywood does not appear with assistance of its own in Umbralio’s catalog, but its [2025-2028 housing plan](https://www.hollywoodfl.org/DocumentCenter/View/25290) includes purchase assistance for first-time buyers paid with state funds (SHIP). We do not know whether it has money today. Ask the city, and ask your lender whether it can be combined with the county’s: the county says its assistance does not combine with that of a city that has its own program.
In the assistance finder you can compare this program with others in Miami-Dade and Broward, using your own numbers. The Assistance Tracker shows each program’s status with the date we checked it. This guide explains the terms, but it does not replace your lender’s review of your case.
Is the maximum price $636,806 or $679,324? Both figures come from the county and they do not match. The guide the county gives lenders, from March 2026, says $636,806; its page and its fact sheet say $679,324. Count on $636,806, the one that promises less, and your lender confirms which one applies before you start house hunting.
Is there money for Hollywood today? The county’s list does not mark Hollywood as “no funds” and says money is given out first come, first served. What it does not say is how much is left. Ask your lender before you count on it.
Do I get the full amount? Not necessarily. The amount above is the program’s maximum for Hollywood, not a promise for your case. The program sets it with your lender.
Is this the same as a City of Hollywood program? No. It is Broward County’s assistance. The City of Hollywood does not appear with assistance of its own in our catalog, but its 2025-2028 housing plan includes purchase assistance for first-time buyers paid with state funds (SHIP). Ask the city whether it has money today, and ask your lender whether it can be combined with this one: the county says its assistance does not combine with that of a city that has its own program. If you buy in another city in the county, see the Broward HPA guide.
Do I have to be a first-time buyer? Yes. The exact number of years without a home, and the exceptions, are in the list above.
Figures and requirements checked on October 12, 2026 against Broward County’s official list and guide. Public program terms can change without notice: always confirm with your lender and with Broward County Housing and Urban Planning Division (the lender processes it; there is no online application) before applying. This guide orients you, it does not advise you.
